We have a tendency to run from adversity. We do not like it when things start getting tough. David had to go through a GIANT challenge to get to the throne that God called him to. God will use those challenges and tough times to mold us and shape us into who He has called us to be.

Tough times bring what is on the inside of us to the outside. In 1 Samuel 14, the prophet thought David's oldest brother would make a good king because of the way he looked. God corrected him and told him He knew what his heart was like. When we pick up the story in 1 Samuel 17, we find David's oldest brother cowering on the sidelines instead of fighting on the front line.

You see pressure situations have a way of squeezing things out of us. So, what is in you? Who are you when no one else is looking? Who are you when you take your mask off? If there was not a Goliath in David's life, we do not know what would have happened. Instead of asking God to take away those times, ask Him to give you the strength to step up and take those times head on. Instead of dodging those situations, face them head on.
