We always lit candle every week of Advent. We did that so that light can shine in the midst of the darkness of this world and in our lives. It symbolized our longing, our desire, our hope. We want to experience his coming to us now, in our everyday lives, to help us live our lives with meaning and purpose. And we want to prepare for his coming to meet us at the end of our lives on this earth.
So, we begin with our longing, our desire and our hope.
You are that candle. You are the light of the world. The light of one single candle can push back the darkness of the entire room. I challenge you this week to pray that God makes you a light in dark places. To live your life in such a way that His light shines. Shines so bright that everyone sees.
