Romans 12:1-2, "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
Sunday Pastor Steven launched a new series called reNEW and used Romans 12:1-2 as his texted. I was challenged by a statement that he made, "The way you think determines your behavior." You can not change the things you do until you change the way you think. What areas of my life do I need to change the way I think?
I need to change the way I think about God. Do I believe that He is big enough to do the things He says He will do?
I need to change the way I think about people. Do I truly see them the way God sees them?
I need to change the way I think about my marriage. Do I love my wife as Christ loves the church?
I need to change the way I think about being a Dad. Am I truly showing my daughter an image of God through my life?
I need to change the way I think about Youth Ministry. Do I desire to entertain a generation and draw a crowd or do I desire to change the course of a generation for God?
There are several other areas I need to change the way I think. As we are getting into this new year I am challenged and stretched that my thinking is too small. The only way that I know to change my thinking is to change what I take it. I have to spend more time in God's Word and in God's presence. Sometimes I focus too much on changing other people and really just need to let God change me.
What area of thinking do you need to let God change this year?
